Why Selling Remotely Was the Right Choice
Selling a property in India while living thousands of miles away is not something you truly understand until you experience it yourself. For me, that reality set in when I began the process of selling my family property in Delhi while based in Toronto.
The property had been with our family for around 25 years and carried a lot of memories. My children were born and raised there during their formative years, and my grandfather and my children had lived together in that house. After my father passed away, I decided to bring my mother along with me to Toronto.
At that point, I had two options. I could give the property on rent, or I could sell it. I chose to sell because I didn’t want to add another long-term responsibility to an already busy life in Toronto.
The challenge was finding someone I could genuinely trust to handle everything in India while I was thousands of miles away.
Finding Someone I Could Trust
The most important thing for me was finding someone trustworthy who could manage the property sale and help bring the wealth back to Canada.
Fortunately, through one of my common friends, I met Sanu, the founder of Remitter. Once I understood the overall procedure and how the process would be handled, I felt comfortable moving forward with Remitter.
There are many financial and remittance-related services in the market, so initially I wanted to understand exactly how Remitter was different. As I spent more time understanding their offering, what stood out was the end-to-end nature of their service.
They weren’t simply facilitating a transaction. They were positioned to manage the entire journey.
A Transparent, Structured Process
From the very first interaction, the experience felt structured, transparent, and reassuring. The questions I had at the beginning were addressed patiently and clearly, and the commercial terms, scope of services, and overall process were explained upfront.
That level of transparency built confidence early on.
Once I moved forward, the biggest difference for me was having a single, dependable point of coordination. Having someone in India who understood the process and could manage things locally became extremely important.
The team explained every stage of the process, patiently addressed my questions, and ensured that tasks were delivered as promised. The consistency of updates and their commitment to agreed timelines made the entire process feel manageable and under control.
Instead of coordinating with multiple vendors and stakeholders myself, I was able to rely on Remitter’s team to drive the process from their end.
Managing Everything Remotely
Tasks that would normally require constant follow-ups were handled seamlessly, with regular updates and clear communication.
Timelines, which can often become a source of anxiety in cross-border situations, were managed exactly as committed. I didn’t have to constantly wonder whether tasks were progressing, whether dependencies were being handled, or whether something might fall through the cracks.
With Remitter, I never felt that lack of visibility.
I always knew where things stood, what had been completed and what was happening next.
Complete Peace of Mind
More than anything, it was the peace of mind that stood out for me.
When you are managing something as important as a property sale from overseas, uncertainty can be exhausting. You are constantly wondering whether everything is progressing properly and whether every dependency is being taken care of.
With Remitter, I genuinely felt safe throughout the transaction.
The value of that experience became even clearer once the transaction was completed, particularly when it came to transferring the money from India to Canada. The convenience, responsiveness, and professionalism I experienced fully justified the decision to work with them.
Looking Ahead
Remitter may not position itself as the cheapest option in the market, but for me, that isn’t the right comparison.
The real comparison is between managing everything yourself, with all the time, effort, and friction that entails, versus working with a team that can responsibly handle the process end to end.
For me, it was undoubtedly the right decision.
So much so that I have since recommended Remitter to others within my network. Because when it comes to high-stakes financial and property matters, trust and reliability matter more than anything else.
